For my chalk paint I used an 8oz paint sample purchased at Lowe's, a couple tablespoons of Plaster of Paris, and a little water to a consistency about like normal paint.
I sanded only the top of this old dresser because it was glassy looking. The beauty of chalk paint is that you don't need to do alot of prep to your piece.
I unscrewed the drawer pulls from the dresser and painted them and used them elsewhere (see below).
I then applied two coats of chalk paint, drying time in-between was about 20 minutes.
I lightly sanded after the first coat.
After the second coat I lightly distressed by sanding all the corners and edges.
I plan to do more distressing of this piece later.
The knobs in the above picture are just temporary - I used what I had on hand already.
Below are the wooden drawer pulls I unscrewed from the dresser and painted.
These are a work in progress. Would be cute to Modge Podge scrapbook paper on these.
I painted the Rooster Painting last year and it has been hanging in my kitchen. Moved it in here for now - until I find something better to go on the wall.
Now the fun begins to find some cute nick-nacks for the dresser, and some other decor to hang on the wall.
